Two years ago seemed just like yesterday.
Time to go, but my heart wants to stay.
On my first day at the door, I put on a weak smile.
Hands trembling, neck stiff, feet frozen.
The words caught in my throat in anticipation.
Barely able to keep my timid eyes open.
Winter showers welcomed spring flowers.
My pulse calmed to its normal rhythm.
I peeled my tightly sealed lips apart,
slowly unveiling what’s been hidden.
Today, I delivered the first goodbyes.
Still smiling, but crying inside.

I love your poem! I love the opening quote and how it juxtaposes to your ending! Great although i felt the sadness towards the end!
